Eurozone Producer Prices Fall 0.5% in June Amid Energy Price Drop
The Eurozone's producer price index (PPI) fell in June due to a decrease in energy prices. The PPI measures the average change in prices that producers receive for their goods and services, excluding intermediate consumption. In June, the PPI declined by 0.5% compared to May, according to preliminary data from Eurostat.
The drop in energy prices was the main contributor to the decrease in producer prices. Energy prices fell by 10.6% in June compared to the same month last year. This decline had a significant impact on overall producer price inflation, which has been experiencing downward pressure in recent months.
