Eurozone Sentix Index Surges to 5.1, Fueling Euro Strength
The Eurozone Sentix Investor Confidence index has risen to 5.1 in September, marking a significant improvement from August's reading of 0.9 and further solidifying its position above zero after five months of negative readings.
This monthly survey, conducted among about 1,600 financial analysts and institutional investors, assesses the current economic situation as well as expectations for the next semester using 36 indicators compiled by Sentix GmbH.
The EUR/USD pair saw a sharp corrective move following the release, but this was attributed to a recovery in the US Dollar rather than any change in sentiment towards the Euro. At the time of reporting, the pair traded marginally higher near 1.1620.
Historically, when the index climbs above 5.0 after a period of contraction, the Euro tends to strengthen by an average of 2.5% over the subsequent weeks. Given this setup, traders are advised to position themselves using EUR/USD bull call spreads to capitalize on the Euro's medium-term upward trajectory.
