EVA Air Hikes Baggage Fees Amid Rising Fuel Costs

EVA Air has announced that it will be increasing its baggage fees for travelers starting from September 29, 2026. The airline cited rising aviation fuel prices and increasing operating costs as the reason for the increase.

The new fees will apply to excess bags, overweight and oversize bags, as well as special items such as sports equipment and musical instruments. The cost of checking an extra bag will rise by around 20-90 US dollars per piece, depending on the route.

EVA Air divides its international network into multiple fee zones, with different charges for each zone. Travelers on long-haul routes will be affected by the increase, particularly those who rely on the airline's generous standard allowances.

The carrier is also revising charges tied to overweight and oversize pieces, which will now be calculated against higher base amounts. This means that travelers with very heavy luggage will face significantly higher costs.
