Experts Split on Cost of Living Crisis as Australians Struggle to Make Ends Meet

Australia's cost-of-living crisis may be over for some, according to one in three finance experts. A survey of 38 money experts and economists by comparison website Finder revealed that 35% believe the nation is not currently experiencing a cost-of-living crisis.

This contradicts a report from Finder itself, which claims their research shows otherwise. The survey also found that 92% of experts expect the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) to leave the cash rate unchanged at 4.35% when they meet on August 11.

However, some economists are not so sure. Mala Raghavan from the University of Tasmania believes the country is still in a cost-of-living crisis due to persistently high housing and services inflation.

'As these categories constitute a significant proportion of household spending, continued price pressures are reducing affordability, weakening real household incomes, and constraining living standards,' she said.
