Farage's Party Lands Record-Breaking Crypto Donations
Reform UK, led by Nigel Farage, has received two record-breaking donations from cryptocurrency billionaires in less than 48 hours. The latest donation of £36 million ($A68 million) comes from Christopher Harborne, matching a previous contribution made by Ben Delo the day before.
The total amount donated to Reform UK now stands at £72 million ($A136 million), exceeding what both the governing Labour Party and opposition Conservatives spent on their election campaigns last year. The funds will help Farage's party in its efforts to win over voters ahead of the next general election, due by 2029.
Reform UK has stated that if it comes to power, it would propose a law to boost crypto adoption, including cutting capital gains tax for digital assets and creating a bitcoin reserve fund at the Bank of England. The donations come amid allegations of irregularities in the party's funding, which it denies.
