FBI Disrupts China-Linked Hacking Network Targeting US Government Agencies
A major Chinese hacking network that targeted NASA, the U.S. Senate, and the Federal Reserve has been dismantled by federal prosecutors and FBI agents.
The operation, known as APT-41, was tied to the Chinese government and had infected more than 300 organizations, including banks, universities, and defense contractors, with data taken from their systems.
QScan, a scanning platform built and run by the group QTFY, paired with an obfuscation network called QTRouter, which wove hijacked machines together to make it appear as if traffic was coming from within the target's own system.
The domains keeping these tools alive were seized in a court-authorized operation, leaving both platforms unable to function and rendering the hacking tools useless.
