FBI Seizes Domains Tied to Chinese Hacking Tools Used on US Infrastructure

The Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) have seized domains tied to Chinese hacking tools, disrupting a network used to hide cyberattacks on U.S. critical infrastructure.

The tools, QScan and QTRouter, were allegedly run by the Chinese state-sponsored group QTFY, which has ties to Nanjing Xinjiuwei Network Technology Company in China.

According to court documents, the hacking platforms targeted U.S. critical infrastructure and sensitive government networks, including NASA, the Federal Reserve, and major federal agencies.

The DOJ believes that QTFY offered paid hacking services to customers, including the PRC Ministry of State Security and the People's Liberation Army.
