Fed Chief Declares End of Savings Glut Era
US Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh has announced that the world economy has transitioned beyond the era of 'savings glut' and into a new phase marked by significant investment growth.
Speaking at the G20 finance ministers and central bank governors meeting in Asheville, North Carolina, Warsh stated that 'if we were to define this moment, we could say it is a period of surging global investment.'
This marks a sharp shift from the past, when excess savings accumulated as funds struggled to find suitable investment destinations, creating a major economic issue.
Warsh noted that the current situation is the opposite of the 'global savings glut' that was a major concern at previous G20 meetings.
The Fed Chair also emphasized that policymakers need to adapt to the changing economic environment, drawing on their accumulated knowledge and experience while embracing the new reality of 'secular growth.'
