The Federal Reserve is expected to keep interest rates steady at its upcoming meeting, despite rising pressure from some officials to raise them in response to inflation and the Iran war.

Chair Kevin Warsh has emphasized that the Fed will bring inflation back to 2% without specifying how, but his tough talk has raised expectations that he will follow through with action.

The resumption of the Iran war has driven up oil and gas prices, which could worsen inflation in the months ahead. Heavy investment in artificial intelligence is also increasing costs for consumers.

Some Fed officials, including Lorie Logan, have indicated that rate hikes may be necessary if progress on inflation is not made soon.
