Federal Reserve policymakers are gathering at Jackson Hole in about two weeks to discuss the US economy's trajectory. One of their main concerns is inflation, which has been stubbornly high despite some recent moderation.

The Fed's decision on interest rates will be closely watched, particularly since Chairman Kevin Warsh sidestepped questions about rate hikes during his last press conference. He characterized rising bond yields as favorable, suggesting the Fed sees them as a way to tighten conditions via market forces.

The core Consumer Price Index decelerated for the second consecutive month in July, advancing 2.5%. However, producer price figures offered a mixed picture, with wholesale costs flat due to declining energy prices but underlying expenses remaining high.
