Fed Governor Lisa Cook Fights Back Against Trump's Ouster Bid
Lisa Cook, a Federal Reserve Governor, is pushing back against President Donald Trump's renewed effort to remove her from the central bank. Her lawyer, Abbe Lowell, fired a five-page letter at the White House, stating that allegations of mortgage fraud against Cook remain unfounded and untrue.
The letter came just before the deadline for a reply set by Dan Scavino, a Trump aide. This move marks the latest development in a long-standing feud between Cook and the Trump administration.
Cook has faced accusations of mortgage fraud since 2026, but her lawyer claims that these allegations are baseless and compare them to similar conduct alleged against Trump and his allies, including Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Attorney General Todd Blanche.
