The U.S. Federal Reserve decided to keep its benchmark interest rate unchanged at 3.5-3.75 percent in a 9-3 vote on July 29, marking the fifth consecutive pause.

This decision came amid concerns over the economic impact of renewed fighting in the Iran war and President Donald Trump's calls for lower borrowing costs.

The Fed stated that 'economic activity is expanding at a solid pace despite elevated uncertainty,' citing strong productivity growth, capital investment, job gains, and a stable unemployment rate.
