The Federal Reserve has decided to keep interest rates steady at their current level of 3.5% to 3.75%, but a minority of officials on the central bank's rate-setting panel voted in favor of a hike.

This marks the fifth consecutive time the Fed has kept rates unchanged, with the last change happening in December 2025 when it reduced its key rate by 0.25 percentage points.

Three out of the 12 voting members on the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) dissented from the decision to hold interest rates steady.

These dissenting members were Beth Hammack, CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland; Neel Kashkari, CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis; and Lorie K. Logan, CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas.
