Fed Set to Announce Rate Decision Amid Rising Inflation Concerns
The Federal Reserve is set to announce its interest rate decision on September 16 at 11:30 pm IST, followed by Chair Kevin Warsh's press conference at midnight IST.
US interest rates have remained unchanged at 3.50%-3.75% since July, but markets are now predicting a slight tilt towards an increase.
A rate hike would be the first in over a year and could have significant implications for India's rupee, investments, oil, and gold prices.
Some experts, such as Matthew J. Maley of Miller Tabak, believe that there is no empirical basis for a rate hike, while others see it as a necessary move to combat rising US inflation.
