Fed Set to Hike Interest Rates Amid Strong Inflation Data
The US Federal Reserve's two-day policy meeting in September 2026 is set to conclude on September 16, with markets closely watching the central bank's interest-rate decision and Chair Kevin Warsh's comments on monetary policy.
Warsh will announce the Fed's rate decision at 2:00 pm ET, or 11:30 pm IST. His press conference will follow at 2:30 pm ET, or midnight IST, according to the Federal Reserve's official schedule.
The September meeting is one of the four meetings this year where policymakers release their projections for interest rates and the economy.
Markets have increased their expectations of a rate hike following stronger inflation data. A 25-basis-point hike would mark the first increase in more than a year, which would raise borrowing costs and potentially impact financial markets and the economy.
