Federal Reserve Holds Interest Rates Steady Amid Inflation Concerns
The Federal Reserve has decided to keep interest rates steady for now. In a unanimous decision, the Fed's benchmark federal funds rate will remain at its current range of 3.5% to 3.75%. This move follows a pattern of stability, with the central bank holding rates steady in January, March, April, and June after three 25-basis-point rate cuts in September, October, and December last year.
The decision comes amid concerns about elevated inflation, which remains above the Fed's 2% goal. The ongoing conflict in Iran is also a factor in the Fed's consideration, as it contributes to rising prices.
