Federal Reserve Holds Steady on Interest Rate Amid Inflation Concerns
The US Federal Reserve has maintained its key interest rate at 3.5 to 3.75% as part of its monetary policy, keeping a close eye on economic conditions and inflation.
In its latest statement released on July 29, the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) voted 9-3 in favor of maintaining the target range for the federal funds rate. This move is seen as a key marker for textile exporters, apparel manufacturers, and retail sourcing teams who closely monitor finance and demand conditions.
The FOMC noted that economic activity is expanding at a solid pace despite elevated uncertainty driven by the conflict in the Middle East. Productivity growth and capital investment are strong, job gains have kept pace with the workforce, and unemployment rates remain stable.
However, inflation remains a concern as it exceeds the committee's 2% goal due to supply shocks affecting certain sectors, including energy.
