Federal Reserve Maintains Steady Course on Interest Rates
The Federal Reserve Open Market Committee (FOMC) met on July 28 and 29 to discuss interest rates. The committee decided to maintain a steady course, neither raising nor lowering rates. This is the fifth consecutive meeting where the FOMC has chosen not to change the target range of interest rates.
The last time the Fed changed interest rates was in December 2025. Since then, the target range has remained between 3.5 percent and 3.75 percent. This stability in monetary policy is a sign that the economy may be finding a balance after recent fluctuations.
