Federal Reserve Votes 9-3 Against Rate Hike Amid Inflation Fears
The US Federal Reserve kept its benchmark interest rate at 3.50% to 3.75%, despite a rare and highly fractured 9-3 vote among committee members.
This decision was made under the leadership of Chairman Kevin Warsh, who took office in May 2026.
The dissenting voices were led by three powerful regional presidents: Beth Hammack (Cleveland Fed), Lorie Logan (Dallas Fed), and Neel Kashkari (Minneapolis Fed).
They formally dissented, advocating for a 25-basis-point increase to borrowing costs, arguing that passive waiting would doom the economy to structural stagflation.
