Fed's Beige Book: US Economy Grows Slowly Amid Rising Uncertainties
The U.S. Federal Reserve (Fed) released its Beige Book report on August 2nd, providing an economic trend update. The report stated that the U.S. economy has continued to grow slowly since early July and prices have risen moderately.
According to the Fed, 10 out of 12 regional Federal Reserve Bank jurisdictions reported slight to moderate growth, while two remained unchanged. Employment increased slightly, and prices rose to a moderate level.
The report highlighted that manufacturing activities increased in most regions, with demand for orders from data centers and defense sectors supporting the industry. However, there was a mixed impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on the job market, with some industries experiencing increased labor demand while others saw reduced demand.
Consumption remained solid, with spending on high-priced products continuing to grow. Despite this, consumers were more sensitive to prices due to rising uncertainties surrounding energy prices and international circumstances.
