Fed's Inflation Data on Tap as Investors Seek Clues to Monetary Policy
Investors are waiting for fresh inflation data from the US Federal Reserve, set to be released on Wednesday. The data includes July's personal consumption expenditures reading and a second-quarter GDP estimate.
The benchmark 10-year Treasury yield remained steady at 4.647%, while the 30-year yield stood at 5.181%. The 2-year yield was also unchanged at 4.199%.
Oil prices have declined, with Brent crude falling 2.8% to $86.08 a barrel and West Texas Intermediate dropping 3% to $79.93. This easing of oil price concerns may alleviate some inflation pressures.
The Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh is scheduled to speak at the Jackson Hole Economic Policy Symposium on Friday, providing investors with clues about monetary policy and inflation.
