Feds Seize Cyber Platforms Used by China in High-Profile Hacking Campaign
US authorities have seized key infrastructure used by Chinese state-sponsored hackers to target high-profile government entities and critical infrastructure. The hacking campaign, which began in 2018, has infected thousands of devices worldwide, creating an obfuscation network that masked the origins of attacks.
The US Department of Justice and FBI announced the seizure of domain names for QScan and QTRouter, two cyber platforms tied to a Chinese group known as QTFY. The platforms provided hacking services to Chinese intelligence and military arms, targeting organizations such as NASA, the Federal Reserve, and several US government departments.
US Attorney General Todd Blanche stated that this action sends a message to hackers worldwide: 'State-sponsored malicious hackers preying on America's critical infrastructure will be stopped and prosecuted.'
