New research has provided a $2.45 billion value on commercial fishing's contribution to New Zealand, highlighting the sector's significant impact on jobs and regional communities.
The study, commissioned by Seafood New Zealand and conducted by economic consultancy Berl, examined the economic and regional benefits of the fishing industry.
The research found that commercial fishing supports 14,500 New Zealand jobs, making it a substantial contributor to the country's employment market.
