Fitch Ratings has reaffirmed its 'AA+' rating for the United States, citing the country's large economy and high per-capita income. The agency also noted the US dollar's status as the world's leading reserve currency.

The US economy has shown resilience in the face of higher tariffs, government spending cuts, tighter border controls, and policy uncertainty, according to Fitch. However, the agency expects economic growth to slow down from 2.8% in 2025 to 1.9% in 2026-2027.

Fitch also expressed concerns about inflation, predicting it will average 3.4% in 2026, above the Federal Reserve's 2% target. The agency attributed this to tariffs adding to core goods inflation.
