Forbo Group Posts Mixed Results Amid Economic Weakness
The first half of 2026 was marked by persistent economic weakness globally. Forbo Group's Flooring Systems business struggled due to subdued commercial construction and refurbishment markets in Europe and the US, while public sector projects faced constraints in Western European countries.
In contrast, Movement Systems saw selected end markets recover, with logistics and food industries showing growth. Despite ongoing geopolitical uncertainty, economic activity proved resilient.
Forbo's net sales returned to growth in local currency for the first time since 2022, reaching CHF 545.7 million. Sales prices increased by +2.5%, while volumes grew by +1.5%. However, a negative currency impact of 4.2% resulted from exchange rate changes.
The operating profit (EBIT) decreased to CHF 41.9 million, with an EBIT margin of 7.7%. Excluding one-off costs, the operating profit increased by 8.4% compared to the prior-year period.
