Former Federal Reserve Bank Employee Anne Poirier Passes Away at Age 80

Anne Poirier, a 80-year-old resident of Quincy and former inhabitant of Kingston and Plymouth, passed away on September 5, 2026, at the Ruth McClain Hospice Home in Braintree. Her career in various administrative positions at the Federal Reserve Bank spanned many years, during which she demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication to her work.

Poirier's interests extended beyond her professional life, as she was an avid traveler who had visited Australia and New Zealand, enjoyed visiting casinos, and cherished time spent with her longtime partner, Perry Smith. Her fondness for game shows on television, particularly Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune, was also notable.

Poirier's love for learning is evident in her educational background at Burdett Junior College in Boston. In addition to her administrative roles, she had a strong interest in finances, which likely contributed to her success in her career. Her ability to balance work and personal life is reflected in her enjoyment of spending time in her home, where she could engage in activities like reading fiction and knitting.

Poirier's legacy lives on through the survivors who loved her: her sisters Theresa Poirier of Kingston and Rita Poirier of Wareham; and Perry Smith, her companion of 60 years. A graveside service will be held in honor of Anne at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Plymouth on October 7, 2026.
