Quebec Premier Christine Fréchette has come to the defense of Bombardier after US President Donald Trump threatened to block the sale of their products in the US. In a social media post, Trump stated that the aircraft are 'not good enough' and must be built in the US if Canada wants to continue selling them there.

Fréchette responded by saying she would not engage in provocation with provocation, emphasizing Bombardier's importance to Quebec as a flagship of its economy and major player in the aerospace industry. She also highlighted the thousands of Quebec workers employed by the company, who showcase their expertise worldwide.

The move comes amid ongoing trade tensions between Canada and the US, with Canadian retaliatory tariffs set to take effect on Tuesday night targeting over $28 billion worth of American goods. These measures are a response to 50% tariffs imposed by Trump on $28 billion worth of Canadian goods in July.
