Fréchette Unveils $1.5 Billion Boost for Quebec Economy Amid Trade War
Quebec Premier Christine Fréchette announced $1.5 billion in additional funds for 'Buy Local' measures on Tuesday, aiming to boost the province's economy during a trade war escalation with the United States.
The cabinet adopted a decree requiring government contracts to be reserved for companies operating within Quebec and Canada, potentially generating an extra $1.5 billion in investment over four months.
Under these new measures, goods produced and processed locally could receive a preferential margin of 15% based on the value added in Quebec or Canada.
