French Stocks Under Pressure Ahead of Key Earnings Reports
The French CAC 40 Index has been experiencing a period of consolidation in recent weeks, moving sideways from its high of 8,561 to its current level of 8,337. This movement is attributed to various factors, including corporate earnings and the European Central Bank's interest rate decision.
Several top French companies, such as LVMH, Kering, Hermès, Airbus, and Société Générale, are set to release their quarterly financial results next week, which may have a significant impact on the market. LVMH, the largest luxury goods company in the world, will publish its numbers on Monday, followed by Kering and Hermès on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The earnings reports come at a time when these companies' stocks are under intense pressure, with LVMH's stock plummeting by over 30% from its highest point last year. However, analysts believe that the luxury goods sector is showing signs of recovery, with China, Japan, South Korea, and the United States experiencing higher demand.
Airbus will also release its financial results next week, which are expected to be positive, with revenue forecasted at €20.2 billion and net income predicted to exceed €1.58 billion. The company recently announced a 5 billion euro buyback and boosted its targets after receiving 154 firm and provisional orders at the Farnborough Airshow.
