FTSE 100 Holds Steady Amid Energy and Healthcare Losses
The FTSE 100 index closed flat on Wednesday after six consecutive days of gains. Energy and healthcare stocks weighed heavily on sentiment, contributing to a decline in the blue-chip index.
Energy shares slipped by 0.67% as oil prices edged lower by 0.08%. Healthcare stocks also fell, with a decline of 1.18%. Despite these losses, consumer stocks such as British American Tobacco, Imperial Brands, and Unilever provided support to the main index.
The US inflation data released on Wednesday was in line with expectations, causing investors to modestly increase their bets on a Federal Reserve interest-rate hike next month.
