FTSE 100 Index Slumps Ahead of US Inflation Figures Amid Rising Oil Prices
The FTSE 100 index fell by 7.39 points to 10,836.80 on Wednesday, ahead of US inflation figures and amid rising oil prices.
Brent crude futures rose 0.67% to $89.51 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) advanced 0.72% to $83.80 per barrel.
Sterling fell against both the dollar and euro, dropping to $1.3511 from $1.3522 on Tuesday, and €1.1702 from €1.1708.
In a mixed bag of performances, Lion Finance Group led the gains with a 1.66% increase to 12,840p, while RELX fell by 1.50% to 2,569p.
