FTSE 100 Poised for Lower Open Amid Oil and Gold Gains

The UK's FTSE 100 index appears set to open lower despite gains in oil and gold prices. Oil has edged up due to renewed concerns about Middle East supply and shipping risks, while gold has risen as traders trim expectations for the Federal Reserve to tighten again.

The next US inflation print is expected to play a crucial role in determining rate expectations. If the data comes in cooler than expected, markets may price a less-hawkish Fed path, leading to lower real yields and potentially boosting gold prices.

Copper has also firmed after a temporary halt at a major Indonesian smelter tightened supply, adding another inflation-sensitive price signal into the mix.
