The FTSE 100 rose 0.06% as investors positioned ahead of the European Central Bank's rate decision, despite elevated oil prices and US-Iran tensions in the Persian Gulf.

Oil prices remained high, with Brent crude futures for November delivery easing 0.37% to $100.89 a barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate for October slipped 0.23% to $95.83.

The ECB's rate decision is widely anticipated, with a 25-basis-point hike across all three benchmark rates priced in as near-certain.
