FTSE 100 Slips Amid Inflation Risks and Rising Oil Prices
The FTSE 100 index closed down 10.47 points at 10,811.66 following Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey's warning about upside inflation risks amid elevated energy prices.
Bailey stated that the market curve, which is currently pricing in three BoE interest rate hikes over the next 12 months or so, looks fair given global inflationary risks are tilted to the upside.
The governor also noted that energy prices could rise further due to the US-Iran war and Russia-Ukraine conflict.
