GBP Edges Higher Amid Oil Price Drop and BoE Rate Hopes

The British pound (GBP) has experienced a slight increase against the US dollar on Monday, rising by 0.07% to $1.3330 as of 1010 GMT.

This modest gain is largely attributed to the decline in oil prices, which have dropped by 9% to $87.84 per barrel due to eased tensions between the US and Iran.

The reduction in oil prices has alleviated concerns over inflation and moderated expectations for further monetary tightening by the Bank of England (BoE) during its upcoming policy meeting on Thursday.

The BoE is expected to maintain its current interest rate of 3.75%, as lower-than-anticipated inflation figures have provided a more stable economic landscape.
