GBP Hits Two-Week High Against NZD as Global Risk Appetite Deteriorates

The Pound to New Zealand Dollar exchange rate has reached a two-week high as global risk appetite continues to deteriorate. The GBP/NZD pair is currently trading at around NZ$2.3044, up approximately 0.3% from Wednesday's opening levels.

This decline in risk sentiment has weighed heavily on the New Zealand Dollar, with investors rotating away from higher-risk assets and towards traditional safe havens. The 'Kiwi' has been under pressure as concerns about the US-Iran ceasefire negotiations have grown, pushing global oil prices back towards US$90 per barrel.

The Pound, however, has appreciated against the New Zealand Dollar despite trading sideways against most of its other major peers. Sterling's performance was subdued by analysis from the Verdant thinktank suggesting that multiple heatwaves have cost the UK economy US$4bn in lost output so far this year.
