GBP Holds Firm Above 1.35 Amid Softer US Data
The GBP/USD exchange rate has remained stable around 1.3540 at the start of the new week, after the Pound reached its strongest level in three months on Friday.
Low currency-market volatility and demand for higher-yielding currencies have continued to provide support for the Pound, while weaker US inflation and activity data have reduced expectations for another Federal Reserve interest-rate increase in September.
The UK's GDP figures showed that the economy expanded by 0.4% during the second quarter and grew a stronger-than-expected 0.3% in June.
