GBP Holds Near $1.35 After Resilient UK GDP
The Pound Sterling to Dollar exchange rate held steady near $1.3500 after the UK's stronger-than-expected monthly GDP data provided Sterling some support.
The UK economy expanded by 0.4% during the second quarter, matching consensus forecasts and slowing from growth of 0.6% in the first three months of the year.
June growth was more encouraging, with GDP increasing by 0.3% compared to expectations for no growth, while services output increased by 0.4% during June.
The US consumer prices data broadly matched expectations and reduced the probability of another Federal Reserve interest-rate increase in September to around 40%, down from 54% a week earlier.
