GBP/JPY Stalls Out at 217.00 as RSI Fades
The GBP/JPY currency pair is showing signs of bullish momentum, but it may be running out of steam. According to technical indicators, the Relative Strength Index (RSI) has faded as the index approaches the 50-neutral level. This suggests that the pair may enter a period of sideways action.
To break through this stagnation, bulls need to push past the first resistance at 217.00. If they succeed, they will be exposed to the July 9 high at 218.01 and eventually the yearly high of 219.61. However, if the 50-day Simple Moving Average (SMA) at 215.96 is breached, it could open the path for a challenge to the 100-day SMA ahead of 215.00.
The Japanese Yen's value is influenced by various factors, including the performance of the Japanese economy and the Bank of Japan's policy. The central bank has intervened in currency markets from time to time to lower the value of the Yen, but it often refrains due to political concerns.
