GBP Rebounds on Dollar Pause, But Policy Divergence Remains Strong

The British Pound (GBP) has recovered some losses from Friday's decline but remains below the mid-1.3500 area in early Asian trading.

This modest gain is attributed to a pause in the US Dollar's advance, which had reached a nearly two-week high due to month-end portfolio rebalancing.

The British Pound is also drawing support from UK Chancellor John Healey's comments emphasizing the importance of maintaining fiscal discipline ahead of the Autumn Budget on October 28.

However, the US Dollar's bias remains to the upside, driven by expectations of a September Fed rate hike and heightened geopolitical risk, which is limiting any meaningful downside in the safe-haven currency.
