GBP Rebounds vs USD on Friday, Limited by Geopolitics

The British Pound (GBP) experienced a brief resurgence against the US Dollar (USD) on Friday as it snapped a two-day losing streak, but failed to gain significant traction beyond the psychological mark of 1.3500. The GBP/USD pair attracted dip-buyers during the Asian session and holds above the 100-period Simple Moving Average (SMA) on the 4-hour chart. However, uncertainties surrounding the Middle East crisis continue to limit the downside for the safe-haven USD. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent's statement that Washington will apply measures unseen before on Iran adds to the geopolitical risk premium, making it challenging for USD bears to capitalize on the momentum. The upcoming market-moving economic releases from the US and Fed speak may influence the USD price dynamics and provide some impetus to the GBP/USD pair. Nevertheless, spot prices seem poised to end the week on a flattish note.
