GBP Retreats Against EUR as Strong German Data Boosts Single Currency
The British Pound (GBP) initially gained against the Euro (EUR) on Tuesday but quickly retreated as strong German economic data provided support for the single currency.
The Pound began to climb at the start of the European trading session, possibly due to a moderate improvement in risk appetite, which makes it more sensitive to risk. However, this increase was short-lived as there was no significant economic data to sustain its gains.
In contrast, the Euro recovered from earlier losses against the Pound after Germany's latest IFO business climate index rose by more than expected in August. This marked the fourth consecutive monthly improvement and reached its strongest level in a year.
