GBP Rises Above 1.3500 as US NFP Data Fails to Impress
The British pound strengthened against the US dollar on Friday, breaking above the 1.3500 psychological level after the weaker-than-expected US Nonfarm Payrolls (NFP) report.
The NFP data, released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, showed that the US economy added fewer jobs than anticipated in the latest monthly report.
This unexpected decline led traders to adjust their expectations for Federal Reserve monetary policy, with many now pricing in a higher likelihood of interest rate cuts in the coming months.
