GBP/USD Bounces Off Lows Before Bailey's Rate Hike Hopes Deteriorate
The British Pound (GBP) experienced a brief recovery on Friday after the release of stronger-than-expected United States employment data. The USD gained momentum, causing GBP/USD to drop to an intraday low of 1.3482 before rebounding.
However, this upward movement was short-lived as the pair returned to levels near 1.3520 and turned negative on the daily chart. This pullback was attributed to Bank of England (BoE) Governor Andrew Bailey's comments calling for flexibility in monetary policy, which cooled hopes for an interest rate hike at September's monetary policy meeting.
The GBP/USD pair remains capped near mid-1.3500s as traders await the release of the US Nonfarm Payrolls (NFP), which could have a significant impact on market sentiment and price movements.
