GBP/USD Edges Higher on Softening Dollar Amid Geopolitical Risks
The British pound has been edging higher against a softer US dollar in early European trading on Monday, but gains remain limited due to ongoing geopolitical tensions.
According to CryptoRank, the GBP/USD pair is up 0.1% on the day and hovering near 1.2700 after failing to sustain an earlier push toward 1.2730.
The US dollar index (DXY) has eased slightly as Treasury yields pulled back from recent highs, with investors awaiting the Federal Reserve's next policy signals.
Market expectations for a Fed rate cut in September have firmed, but Fed officials have remained cautious, emphasizing data dependence. This mixed outlook has kept the dollar rangebound, providing only limited support for the pound.
