GBP/USD Stalls Near 1.35 Ahead of US Jobs Report
The British pound's rally against the US dollar stalled near 1.35 on Friday as investors awaited the release of the US Nonfarm Payrolls report, a key indicator for the Federal Reserve's policy outlook.
Renewed tensions in the Middle East and ongoing hostilities between the US and Iran also supported safe-haven demand for the dollar.
The pound had edged higher for two consecutive sessions but struggled to extend gains, staying capped at mid-1.3500s levels.
Reduced expectations for a September Fed rate hike and softer US bond yields limited dollar upside and kept downside pressure on GBP/USD contained.
