GBP/USD Surges as BoE Signals Aggressive Stance
The GBP/USD has shown significant strength in recent trading sessions, gaining over 1.3% against the US dollar.
This buying bias is largely attributed to the Federal Reserve's interest rate decision and subsequent comments from Kevin Warsh, which did not provide a clear signal of a possible hike in September.
The Bank of England also kept its reference rate at 3.75%, with a vote that showed internal division on further increases. Although no change was made to the rate, this signal is seen as slightly more aggressive and may indicate a more restrictive monetary policy if inflation fails to move closer to the 2% target.
The difference in signals between the Federal Reserve and the Bank of England has led to a decline in the US dollar's strength against its main peers, with the DXY index below the 100-point area.
