A proposed plan by Germany's Alternative for Germany (AfD) party has sent shockwaves through Europe. The party, led by Alice Weidel, aims to make drastic changes if they come to power, including exiting the Euro and reintroducing the German Mark.

Weidel argues that the Euro has severely damaged the German economy and eroded people's wealth. In contrast, Germany had a stronger structure when it used its own national currency, the Mark. The party plans to overhaul monetary policy and immediately end open-border policies.

The AfD leader also announced plans to abolish the Schengen free movement agreement and close national borders. Syrians and other migrants whose protection status has ended will be sent back to their countries without delay.
