Germany's Inflation Rate Hits 2.8% in July 2026

The Federal Statistical Office of Germany (Destatis) has reported that the country's provisional consumer price index (CPI) for July 2026 indicates an annual inflation rate of 2.8%. This is based on a comparison with the same month in the previous year.

Additionally, the harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP), which enables comparisons within the euro area, also shows a 2.8% increase compared to July 2025.

The provisional HICP for July 2026 is 0.9% higher than in June 2026, while core inflation, excluding food and energy, is expected to stand at 2.4% in July 2026.

Energy prices are expected to be 8.3% higher than in the same month of the previous year, with an accelerated rise compared to June 2026 versus June 2025 (3.4%) and May 2026 versus May 2025 (6.6%).
