Germany's Inflation Rate Surges Past Forecasts at 2.8%
Germany's inflation rate accelerated in July, exceeding forecasts as the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 2.8% year-on-year.
This marks a notable uptick in inflationary pressure within Europe's largest economy and is above the European Central Bank's 2% target.
The core CPI, which excludes volatile food and energy prices, remained elevated at 3.0% YoY, indicating that underlying price pressures persist across services and non-energy industrial goods.
